The beauty of sumie is legendary throughout the world. Fascinated by its simple beauty, Elana is honored to share with you her love of painting.
Elana Lindquist is a watercolor/sumie artist who began to paint as a way to relax and discovered along the way, how much fun it is to create beauty using color and shape. Her love of the art and the joy it gives her, has inspired thousands of students, who thought they couldn’t paint, how to do so. She has taught art in schools and universities across the USA. Her unique teaching style is so popular that a TV special was made about it when she was teaching at the University of Indiana-Purdue. Students are surprised at the joy and fun they can have painting after only one lesson. Usually, they go home and frame one of their paintings.
Her paintings are in private collections around the world. Her first paintings were displayed at the United Nations where she once worked as a multilingual tour guide. Because of the encouragement from her friends, she has continued to paint and has turned what was once a new hobby into a life long passion.
She is now living in Gig Harbor, WA and is eager to share her work and talents.
